Whitney Hanson, a viral TikTok poet, began posting her poems during the pandemic, exploring themes of heartbreak, childhood and grief, capturing the zeitgeist of lockdown.
With 687k followers on Instagram and 1.8m on TikTok, Hanson is helping re-energise popular interest in poetry among her young fanbase, with her books receiving rave reviews, with one anonymous fan describing the 23 year old as 'a phenomenal writer' who 'portrays the truths of life so beautifully'. Hanson self-published her first two volumes of poems, Climate and Home, in November 2022 and May 2023 respectively, which were picked up by Quercus Fiction, and she is set to release her third volume, Harmony, in November.
